The temperatures are starting to rise. The birds are coming back and the animals are scampering around with their babies. Puerto Vallarta, also on the Pacific coast, can be a boisterous place in the evenings, but the town is also more focused on the typical tourist and families.
Regarding the Mexican drug violence – Mexico’s tourist areas see crime, obviously, but authorities in the resort towns have installed very conspicuous surveillance cameras throughout the towns and stepped up measures and personnel. In almost every case, traveling in Mexico is done in the same manner as in America – comfortably, but prudently cautious. Resort cities in Mexico are actually safer than most American cities, and the U.S. State Department states that Mexican resort towns do not see the drug violence and crime frequent in the border districts and heavy drug trafficking routes.
